Conditions in Zion are ripe for industrial growth, and the cornerstone of planned growth in Zion is the Trumpet Technology Park, a tract of land northwest of downtown bounded by State Line Road on the north, Green Bay Road on the east, Illinois Route 173 on the south and the Union Pacific Railroad on the west.

Trumpet Technology Park contains more than 1,000 acres, with more than 400 acres earmarked specifically for mixed industrial-commercial use. Attributes of the site include:

  • Central location, 45 minutes by auto from both Milwaukee and Chicago.
  • Superior location within 4½ miles from the Interstate, and served by major connecting highways between the site and the Interstate.
  • Two airfields supporting small jets within 15 minutes, in addition to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago and Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee.
  • Redundant power sources and on-site distributed generation.
  • Existing Infrastructure: The site is located along an improved state highway, Green Bay Road, offering a direct artery to Wisconsin and US 41 and I-94. Along this roadway the city is quickly implementing its comprehensive plan to bring city water and sewer services. Other utilities are already present. Our current water allocation is more than sufficient to meet the needs of this light industrial and business park development.
  • An available, well-skilled work force.
  • “Host” community of Zion willing to offer local incentives tailored to company needs.
  • Multiple state incentives provided for qualifying developers.

Trumpet Technology Park is not the only property in Zion suitable for development. A major component of the city's development efforts has been the purchase and rehabilitation of various buildings and properties to prepare them for industrial, commercial and retail use. We are currently working in conjunction with DECCA and other state and county agencies to offer incentives tailored to meet your company needs.
