The Organizational Committee has been working with Citigate
Communications to finalize the new web site and begin the
design phase for a new city brochure. In addition, the committee
has been diligently pursuing new business prospects with the
assistance of Delaine Rogers, Director of Economic Development
for the City of Zion. Anyone interested in working with the
Committee to help market opportunities in Zion or to consider

The TIF Review Board has been very active in determining the
next steps for the three TIF Districts in the City of Zion.
Discussions of late involved the possible early buy-out of
bond debt for the K-Mart Plaza, support for the relocation
of the Salvation Army, assisting with the feasibility study
for the possible location of Country Inn & Suites in Zion
and helping to resolve the question of annual rebates from
the TIF Fund to the supporting taxing bodies. The TIF Review
Board members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the
City Council. Anyone interested in serving the City in this

Building Department Advisory Panel has served to hear the
concerns of residents regarding the practices of the Zion
Building Department since 1999. A panel of all volunteer property
owners they meet once a month to listen to both sides of the
issue related to tickets issued for code violations within
the city limits. In January 2003 the City Council formally
granted the Panel the authority to grant waivers in certain
limited circumstances and negotiate with the homeowner a viable
plan to resolve the concerns and reach compliance. For more
