The Zion-Benton Public Library District serves the residents of Zion, Benton Township, Winthrop Harbor, and portions of Beach Park. The Library was established as the Zion Memorial Library in 1935. In 1975 the Library converted to a district and soon after that began serving Benton Township and other areas. Our current building, built in 1981 and expanded in 2000, has 33,250 square feet of space.

The Library's collection contains over 145,000 items, including books, magazines, audio recordings, video recordings, puppets, newspapers, genealogy resources, and local history materials. In addition to loaning materials, the Library offers the following services: reference, information resources on CD-ROM, interlibrary loan, microcomputers, typewriter and photocopiers for public use, adult and children's programming, homebound delivery, and Internet access. The Library also has meeting rooms, quiet and small group study rooms, and a wide variety of comfortable reading areas.

Visit the Library at 2400 Gabriel Avenue, located just to the west of Shiloh Park Golf Course in Zion. The Library is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Library is closed on Friday and Sunday.
