2001 - Statewide ban on self service retail displays of tobacco products
2002 - 39 cent increase in state cigarette tax to 1.50
$1.42 increase in New York City cigarette tax to $1.50
Enactment of strong clean air legislation in Dutchess, Onondaga and Nassau
counties and New York City
2003 issues are enacting a statewide ban on smoking in all workplaces and
places of public accommodation and refunding the state tobacco control program.
